The Eysenck Personality Profiler used in personal development programme

The Eysenck Personality Profiler (EPP) has proved to be a valuable tool in our range of psychometric instruments. Whilst we have found the measure to be useful in recruitment, the greatest success was in the area of management development.

We used the measure to promote the idea of life long learning within the workplace. The EPP was given to the management team' as the first step of a development programme. Individual one-to-one interviews were then conducted. The EPP was found to be extremely accurate - not a result of the Barnum effect as the EPP does not only provide positive results! The interviews resulted in the development of individual Action Plans involving the recommendation of various training courses including Assertiveness Motivation and Stress Management. These recommendations were taken forward by the Managing Director.

In addition, the Managing Director (with permission from the management team) was given feedback from all the members. A list of key-points was devised to be kept in his top drawer concerning who was motivated by a pat on the back; how they coped with stress; who required independence within their work etc. The list acted as a reminder of how each individual worked and how to keep that individual motivated and satisfied within his/her position.

Results were also compared to the results of a Climate Survey conducted at the departmental level. The measurements provide an indication of the effectiveness of the individual management styles as assessed by the EPP. These results fed in to the Action Plans of the individual managers to enable improvement in relations across the company.

Overall the results of the EPP were found to be extremely useful by the companies involved and the individuals tested.

The Eysenck Personality Profiler used in selection, development and training

Expertise is not the only attribute we have to take into consideration when we are recruiting an experienced or a recently qualified veterinary surgeon or nurse. The Eysenck Personality Profiler (EPP) allows us to gauge the personality and suitability of applicants to lead a dynamic team whilst delivering exceptional veterinary care in often stressful and emotional situations. Identifying these two qualities and recruiting professionals with the right attitude is paramount to the continuing success, stability and growth of our businesses.

We also use the EPP in our training and continuing professional education programmes which are eagerly attended by staff who are enthusiastic to develop and learn. Our companies are at the forefront of a major change in the veterinary sector. Selecting, retaining and training the right staff from the outset saves us time, money and goodwill when recruiting replacements and re-building veterinary teams.

With over 130 fully-employed veterinary surgeons, low staff turnover and the fastest growth curve in the veterinary sector, the EPP has helped us get recruitment and selection of veterinary staff down to a fine art.

WinSWOT used in business decision making

"WINSWOT was used for the modelling of risk of investment of the MARIBIC project in Croatia funded by The World Bank (TAL-2 project) and was Chapter 9 of the Business Plan which I coordinated. It worked very nicely and presented the various issues in a convincing manner even though in some cases it proved that threats were more important and thus should be kept under control)"

WinSWOT

"I've typically used a flip chart pad and an easel to capture all the factors that the team throws out. But, I recently uncovered a slick, inexpensive piece of software called, creatively, WinSWOT. It generates some nice visuals that can be used to share your findings with the rest of your organization."
